And then it snowed…

Some of the team arrived at Himeville on Friday evening just before the heavy snowfalls began. They were eager to get the tour started but the increase in the overnight snowfall saw depth of snow sitting at 30cm.

Most of the roads were closed by the emergency services and so some of the team were unable to get through. Most of the area was without power or cellphone signal, due to extensive damage caused by the snow.

It was decided that the team would regroup and start the tour on Sunday.

After an early breakfast, and a prayer, the team left Himeville at 6:30am in a chilly -1*C. The day was sunny but chilly. After completing 92kms and over 2000m of climbing, the team arrived at their overnight accommodation just outside Nottingham Road.

After an excellent cup of coffee and bike cleaning the team enjoyed a very welcome shower. We are sure that they will sleep very well tonight.

The donations have been coming in and they are up to R87800. The target is R200000 which will go toward funding the teachers at the pre-school.

Until tomorrow, good night from the team.
